Love Stories

Love stories are as unique as the couples who live them, each one a testament to the power of connection and shared passions. At Scott James Jewelry, we believe that the rings that symbolize these unions should be just as extraordinary. Our semi-custom made pieces are more than just jewelry; they're wearable narratives, capturing the essence of each couple's journey. From sun-kissed beaches to rugged mountain peaks, our rings have witnessed countless magical moments. Today, we're honored to share four remarkable stories of love, adventure, and the perfect rings that seal these beautiful commitments

Lauren and Erik's Story

After 20 years of being together, Lauren felt that she and her husband had something to celebrate. They decided to get a new wedding band which would be more representative of her current life. The move? The Water Inlay Ring from Scott James. It reminds her of her two favorite things in life: the ocean, and her husband. The two met while working as surfing instructors in Encinitas, California. Lauren said, “Our love for the ocean brought us together, and every time I look down at my ring I’m reminded of that with the beautiful turquoise inlay.”

This ring isn’t just beautiful. It is also practical. As a mom of three young kids, Lauren loves the bezel setting: it doesn’t snag on anything. Lauren is a self-described surfer, artist, and ocean lover. The turquoise waves around the diamond are the perfect design for both her relationship with her husband, and adds to the gorgeous style of the ring.

Andrew and Courtney's Story

To propose, Andrew and I went backpacking to a place where we had backpacked 5 years prior. It was the place Andrew first asked me to be his girlfriend. We hiked out 5 miles to the lakeside campsite that overlooked the El Dorado National Forest. At sunset, we walked to a nearby overlook to enjoy the idyllic view. The power of this place in nature was overwhelming to both of us. As the sun was setting, Andrew got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was the perfect setting to begin our next chapter

We looked all over, and selected the Alpine committed ring from Scott James: It has the perfect, simple details of both the mountains and trees that we love and appreciate so much. When we see it, we can’t help but be transported back to that magical evening when we got engaged. These lovely memories help ground us in hard times, and inspire us in the good ones. The mountains are what brought us together. It's a nice reminder to see that represented so beautifully on the ring. Scott's attention to detail is impeccable. The ring makes us think of all of the wonderful adventures that we have shared, and continue to have in the outdoors together. Scott and Melissa were very helpful with answering questions that Andrew had about the ring. Melissa went above and beyond sending photos of diamond size options to help Andrew with the decision. The whole experience was very smooth and we are so happy with how the ring turned out.

If there is an adventurous couple out there that is looking for a unique, timeless, or custom ring, we highly recommend Scott James. We chose our ring from his committed collection. It’s simple, stunning, and shows the commitment and adventure that go into relationships.

Erica and Peter's Story

For couple Erica and Peter, the holiday season is the most wonderful time of the year for a more intimate reason than for most: the two got engaged at Christmas time! Peter proposed in a cherished gazebo in the town of Brunswick, Maine. This area was significant to Erica due to her familial roots there. It was particularly special to these two because she introduced the quaint town to Peter while the couple were falling in love. The gazebo where he proposed was full of Christmas lights, and maybe a little of that holiday magic.

For Erica’s engagement ring, Peter and Erica selected the Deep Roots Committed Ring from Scott James due to its uniqueness. Erica loves the textured, nature inspired band. In addition, they both love that the diamond is a raw, salt and pepper diamond. It’s both unique, and reminiscent of them as people that love working with their hands. (She’s a designer, and he is a carpenter. A hobby they share is landscaping.) Both Erica and Peter wanted a special piece that couldn’t simply be purchased in any corner store. This ornamental piece reminds Erica of her own individual roots, and also of the new roots that she and Peter are laying together.

Erica and Peter enjoyed working with Scott because of the personalization. They describe the process as wonderful; Through email, Scott and Melissa took extra time to discuss the setting and style of the ring. They feel that Scott offered a unique perspective, and that he communicated quickly.

Skye and Garrett's Story

A wedding ceremony tends to be a stressful event to plan. A couple has to figure out where to go, who to invite, when the event will be, etc. Skye and Garrett added one more logistical detail to this mix: What gear should they include in their climbing packs? What?! This couple met on a glacier climb. Their courtship featured many climbing routes up mountains, and many backpacking trips through the mountains. To them, it seemed only natural to get married on top of a gorgeous peak: Liberty Bell in the North Cascades in Washington. On the day of their wedding, they readied themselves, packed a bag, and rock climbed to the location of their wedding! Skye and Garrett had an intimate ceremony, reading their own vows at sunrise.

Skye knew she wanted a ring from Scott James due to his unique, outdoorsy style. The Alpine Committed Ring was an obvious choice. Skye chose a stunning salt and pepper diamond for this beautiful piece. They each love the pine trees that surround the diamond. True to form, Garrett proposed while the couple was backpacking in Mount Assiniboine in British Columbia. The actual proposal took place at sunset on a ridge. Skye describes it as beautiful and intimate.

Of her Alpine Committed Ring, Skye said, “I am so obsessed with my ring and love that it shows my love of the mountains and being outside. Everyone who sees it comments on how beautiful it is. I love the fact that it is handmade by an artist.”

Alpine Committed Ring

These four stories, while distinct, share a common thread: the desire for a ring that truly reflects the couple's unique bond and shared experiences. At Scott James Jewelry, we take pride in crafting pieces that go beyond mere adornment, becoming cherished symbols of love and adventure. Whether it's a ring that captures the essence of the ocean, the majesty of the mountains, the texture of nature, or the thrill of climbing new heights together, each piece is a testament to the couples who wear them and the journeys they've embarked upon.

As we continue to create bespoke jewelry for adventurous hearts and free spirits, we're reminded that every love story deserves a ring as extraordinary as the couple it represents. To all the couples out there planning their next big adventure – whether it's a proposal, a wedding, or simply a lifetime together – we invite you to explore our collections and find the perfect piece to commemorate your unique love story. After all, your ring should be as remarkable as the love it symbolizes.
